Chapter Five. Advanced Image Editing

In the previous two chapters, you learned how to use Capture NX’s tone- and color-correction controls to make adjustments to your entire image. But there will be many times when you’ll want to make adjustments to just one part of an image. Sometimes only the foreground needs to be brightened, or some other part of the image needs to be edited completely independently of the rest. If you’re coming from a wet darkroom background, you can think of Capture NX’s localized editing tools as supercharged forms of dodging and burning. But where dodging and burning let you change localized exposure, Capture NX lets you make localized changes to any type of adjustment.
