1. Life Cycle of a Print Job
Most consumers don’t wonder about the origins of all those catalogs and ads in their mailboxes. They don’t think about the design process, and certainly give no thought to those poor guys on third shift in the printing plant trying to troubleshoot a problem job. They’re not concerned with the mechanical process of printing. All they think is, “Wow! That really looks good—and it’s on sale! I should buy this!” As far as they’re concerned, somebody makes pretty pictures on a computer, then somebody else presses a button, then—poof!—there’s a printed piece in their hands.
