Over the past couple of generations, drugs have gone from being occasionally beneficial to an indispensable component of medical treatment. They treat acute infections and chronic conditions successfully. They address many disorders long recognized and others undiagnosed until a short time ago. Some of today’s market-leading medications mitigate the risks of developing serious illnesses, reduce the symptoms of others, and for many people lessen the impact of disease on their daily lives.
