In this chapter we'll discuss how we think a few key aspects of the way schools are designed might be adapted to better respond to students' needs, given the challenges we discussed in Chapter 1. Obviously, not every action we discuss will be relevant for every school and the word adapt could imply anything from a slight tweak of the current emphasis to a complete overhaul. We'll start with a story a colleague told us about rethinking extracurriculars through a belonging lens.
