HAWTHORNE VALLEY FARM, LOCATED IN THE HUDSON VALLEY OF NEW YORK STATE, is a biodynamic agricultural business, and a unique working and educational community. “They adhere to the teachings of an Austrian thinker, Rudolph Steiner—look it up, it’s fascinating. The whole place resembles a little German village populated with gentle hippytypes. Brown Swiss cows—affectionately referred to as ‘Swissies’—freely roam the surrounding fields,” says Julia Reich of Julia Reich Design.
