Using the Menu Editor

The Gnome Menu Editor enables you to add folders and menu items to the Gnome main menu.

To add a folder to the main menu:

1.
Select Menu Editor from the Settings menu on the Gnome main menu. The Menu Editor will open (Figure 3.29).

In the left pane, highlight User Menus.
3.
Click the New Submenu button on the toolbar.
4.
Enter a name for the new folder in the Name box.
5.
Click Save.

Tip

Unless you are logged on as root, you will only be able to edit the user menus that apply to your session. These are located beneath User Menus in the left pane. In addition to these menus, the root user can add or modify system menus—those located below System Menus in the tree.

To add an item to a menu:
