Installing Apache

If you chose the Red Hat Linux 6 Server installation, you probably already have Apache installed. If so, it is patiently waiting for an HTTP request on port 80.

If not, it's easy to install the Apache RPM package provided on the Red Hat Linux 6 VQS CD.

To determine whether Apache is installed:

1.
Log on as root.
2.
Choose LinuxConf from the System flyout on the Gnome main menu. The Linux Configuration applet will open.
3.
Make sure there are entries for Apache Web server ( Figure 14.1 ); or use Gnome File Manager to check whether an httpd. conf file has been created in /etc/httpd/ conf ( Figure 14.2 ); or on the Linux server, open http://localhost/ in Netscape Navigator and make sure the default Apache page appears (see ...
