You'll notice we didn't cover much about hybrid, in‐person, plus virtual online audience events. Our definition of hybrid is thematic regarding mash‐ups, formats, cross‐functional, and cross‐training concepts. The 2020s have seen a flock of black swans so far! There is no doubt that remote, hybrid, and fully digital events are here to stay. We will also see some of the first forays into business‐to‐business (B2B) for Metaverse as we approach 2025 and 2030. Zoom will continue to dominate as the central platform of choice based on “ease of use,” fidelity with various internet signals, and mass adoption.

At this writing, travel has exploded worldwide, breaking records with thousands of flight cancellations and delays. We can only imagine the level of disruption had this happened during the latest San Francisco mega‐conference. Pre‐pandemic, those events were so packed that they were bringing in cruise ships to extend hotel capacity.
