Chapter 4

Application to a 2D System

In Chapter 3, the theoretical fundamentals of the proposed combined approach were introduced. Developed as a reliability analysis solution for dynamic systems, the approach integrates a novel modal model-based perturbation technique and one of the probabilistic methods. In-depth case studies have been conducted to apply and validate the approach on two dynamic systems with added masses. The first one is a two-dimensional frame structure. However, theoretical and technical problems were found during this study and solutions were sought and applied, which are presented in this chapter.
