Ideas

My inspiration for the idea of business remix comes from Joseph A. Schumpeter, The Theory of Economic Development (originally published in German 1911; English trans. London: Oxford University Press, 1934). Though I first read this book as an undergraduate, I have since learned how its core insight about business combinations can be put to use in management. Schumpeter is better known for his work on creative destruction, which appeared in a later book. Scholars of entrepreneurship, however, have regularly referred to Schumpeter’s concept of business combinations.
