As an IT professional, you are certainly familiar with the building blocks of IT technology. The objective of this chapter is to help you take a 360-degree view of your environment so you don’t have any gaps when you perform your assessment and create your renovation plan.
We will discuss what systems, technologies, and data stores are in use, where are they located, who's managing them, who's securing them, and who's patching/updating/upgrading them. Essentially, you will be creating a full inventory of systems and technologies. When you perform your assessment in Chapter 20, you can work from the list(s) you have created here.
