So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Abstract
Applied observational studies are likely the most common type of research conducted in the field of cyber security. The key difference between applied study and observational study is the differing scope. Applied study observes a specific subject for performance, function, security, etc. Fundamental observational study observes the entire system without presumption of behavior.
This chapter explores how to adapt the techniques and approaches for studying applications of science with a focus on applied observational study.
