Abstract
A leading influence on the new era of internet communication and services, the internet of things (IoT), with its arsenal of varied applications and the ability to connect and perform without human assistance, still proves to be one of the most swiftly built technologies across the world. Being a developing technology, the IoT is still afflicted by some shortcomings, the most important ones being its security, privacy, and vulnerability to cyberattacks. Keeping this in mind, this chapter highlights various privacy and security challenges in IoT applications and will also discuss their solutions using new technology. This chapter aims to highlight the use of new technology like blockchain, artificial intelligence and machine learning to address some of the major security challenges faced by the IoT applications.
