Abstract

Currently, the huge growth in population has resulted in an increased production of waste, which has contributed to unhygienic conditions that have led to a less healthy environment. Frequent trash collection has become a necessity to deal with this increased amount of waste, which has resulted in waste management methods which are laborintensive and costly. Therefore, to help keep cities clean, real-time monitoring of trash bins using a smart bin mechanism (SBM) is proposed, which relies upon the artificial intelligence of things (AIoT). The proposed structure decreases the work cost and saves time and energy of the system. It also decreases the spread of infectious diseases by keeping the metropolitan regions clean. Fuzzy logic is used to choose the appropriate regions in the metropolitan networks to place the smart trash bins.

19.1 Introduction

The creation of the Internet prompted the rise of a new innovation, that is, the Internet of Things (IoT). The IoT is a network of connected objects that exchange data with other devices and systems over the internet. It is the foundation of future correspondence frameworks which will convey and share data smartly without human intervention. The interconnected devices become smart devices, which have computational abilities ...
