Your thoughts — positive and negative — also serve as fuel for your body and mind. When you’re under duress, positive beliefs, confidence, and the ability to think clearly can falter, largely a result of fear and anxiety taking over, along with a cascade of stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. This doesn’t happen often to the resilient person. Studies show that resilient individuals are more likely to remain confident, optimistic, and open in the face of change. They have a certain mental toughness that enables them to push through hardship, knowing that they will come out stronger and wiser.
