Studies show that self-reflection and self-insight predict resilience. People who self-reflect also examine their emotions, thoughts, and experiences. They are self-aware and more likely to work toward regulating their emotions and achieving calm. With their greater tendency to challenge their own limiting beliefs and assumptions and to stay open to learning from challenges and change, they have a greater propensity to have access to insight — and this insight, in turn, provides them better outsight.
This chapter explains how to practice self-reflection, quiet your mind, overcome limiting beliefs and narrowed thinking, and broaden your perception so that you can develop the ability to have insight, especially during difficult times.
