When it comes to work, resilient people are better able to handle the demands that are placed on them, prioritize their workload, and also find time for personal care and renewal. This is no easy task in today’s modern world, especially when people are constantly connected by email or text, the workload never seems to diminish, and job security is often in question.
The World Health Organization describes stress as the global health epidemic of the 21st century, and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention states that one-quarter of all employees feel their job is the number one stressor in their lives. Burnout from work stress isn’t uncommon, and because it doesn’t look like anyone’s work stress will ease up anytime soon, it behooves you to build resilience in order to manage it and still thrive.
Being resilient at work involves persevering despite setbacks, believing in your capacity to handle challenges as they arise, knowing how to prioritize, getting support when you need it, and delegating responsibilities when you can. It also ...
