10 Awakening Generosity, Creativity, and Kindness

What is the meaning of these very familiar words? Here are a few ways of thinking about each of them that may provoke or inspire you.

Generosity is offering something we value to a person or situation we also value. This is altruism, not reciprocity. We want to extend ourselves or offer something to another. Generosity is a willingness to give without needing to receive. The ultimate generosity is offering something without calling attention to the gift or the giver, and not needing to be thanked. This is why it’s named “ultimate”—it’s very hard. (By the way, this doesn’t apply to what we need to teach our children, who seem quite good at ignoring people’s generosity.)
