It was Snowmageddon—the ninety-plus inches of snow that smothered the metro Boston region in the winter of 2015 and knocked out the MBTA, the public transit system known as the T. Although it was the target of constant complaint, we all put up with the MBTA, which provided more than 1.2 million rides each day. When the agency announced a shutdown due to the snow, it delivered a gut punch to the community and the economy.
