The Analysis

  • Our analysis is derived from our working paper “Preparing for Future Pandemics With a Reserve of Inventory, Capacity, and Capability,” which calculates optimal levels of inventory and the unit costs in inventory trade-offs with domestic capacity for the U.S. Strategic National Stockpile.
  • Our proposed solution draws upon good risk-management practices for supply chains, outlined in our book Managing Supply Chain Risk (Springer, 2012).
