The COVID-19 pandemic started in Hong Kong in January 2020 when COVID-19 was still relatively unknown around the world. In response to the first outbreak, citizens of Hong Kong had their first taste of the “new normal.” There were several additional outbreaks in 2020 and 2021 that were effectively contained.
