Abstract

One major part of the primary components of the transceiver is the RF voltage regulated oscillator (VCO). Inductor (L)-capacitor (C) VCOs and ring VCOs are the two primary types of VCOs. Ring oscillators have a large tuning range and a little area occupation. For most wireless applications, however, they frequently result in intolerable phase noise. Because of the current necessary to maintain the tank oscillation, using an LC oscillator improves phase noise while wasting a lot of power. As they produce little jitter or phase noise when contemplated in the frequency domain, LC oscillators are preferred in the clock conversion function of optical networking systems. An LC-phase oscillator’s noise is correlated to the inductor’s quality factor. The smaller the phase noise, the greater the quality factor, but the larger the inductor size, the higher the circuit cost. The noise characteristics of these RF VCOs are studied in order to get the lowest possible consumption. In this literature, LC oscillators are considered because they are the multifarious interesting for high-frequencies. Up to ...
