Chapter 13. Impedance Matching
Perhaps one of the most dreaded tasks in RF design is matching the different impedances of the blocks in the signal chain. This usually needs to be done between the antenna and the low noise amplifier as well as from the RF output to the mixer (in a receiver) or the power amplifier to the antenna (in a transmitter). The beauty of this chapter is that it explains how to use the Smith Chart, an indispensible tool to RF designers, and it provides step-by-step design examples using the chart as well as electronic design software based on the chart. As a final service to you, this chapter also includes a detailed explanation of how to read an RF transistor data sheet.—Janine Sullivan Love
