Welcome! On the following pages you'll learn tons about HDR photography. For now, I just want to tell you a little bit about this book.

First, although you can skip around from chapter to chapter, I suggest you read the chapters in order. This will help you build on what you learn along the way. That will make the learning process more fluid.

Second, this is more than a book on HDR photography. It includes basic photography tips and techniques, including information on seeing the light (one of the first steps in making a picture), ideas on envisioning the end result, and suggestions on image editing.

Here is my favorite image in this book. It's an HDR photograph of a simple scene, and it was created from a set of pictures I took in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. I dressed up the image with a digital frame.

In this book, you'll learn how to create artistic images like this one. You will also learn how to add digital frames to an image, which is a cool way to add impact to a picture.

About the Layout

This book contains more before-and-after sets of pictures than most how-to photography books, including my own. This technique is used to help you quickly and easily see the impact of HDR imaging techniques.
