Chapter 22. Life Data and Their Implications

In Chapter 8 we discussed HALT, HASS, and reliability growth testing. These tests are powerful tools for improving the robustness and durability of new product designs. Here we extend the discussion to the analysis of life data, a key part of the reliability growth process. When failure analyses are combined with corrective actions, sustainable improvements in reliability are enabled. Certainly there is an element of “keeping score.” Life data are available only after you have tested prototypes of the production-intent design.
