To do anything well, repeatedly over time, requires a disciplined process. This is especially true of product development. People come and go, so your organization needs a process that doesn’t depend on having specific people who have internalized your process and know how to practice it well. Your good people and your standardized processes are part of your corporate DNA. Of course your people are the most important ingredient, but it’s risky to depend entirely on a veteran staff. Great people following a flawed process won’t produce the best results.
