KEEPING FOCUS AND GETTING WORK
There is a truly satisfying sense of completion when you finish a particularly tough shot. After time spent hunting for the fastest way to a completed task, you’ll find yourself in a very centered place, knowing that you accurately isolated a complex focus object.
But before you can complete a shot, you’ve got to start it. Every final matte has been started with a single spline. When you’re first starting out on a shot, you’ll gradually find yourself slowly tuning out the outside noises; then, without realizing it, you’ve quite unexpectedly entered a mental state referred to as the Zone. In this frame of mind, all other things are far away and the only thing in your world are the mattes in front of you.
