Getting Started

Just like the human body, the bodies of most animals can be broken down into simple shapes.

As a generalization, small rodents have fairly stocky bodies and triangular heads. Carnivores tend to have a thinner body and a squarer head. As for ruminants, they have variable proportions: you will have to look at them carefully before putting pencil to paper.

Of course, we will not be able to show roughs of every kind of animal on the planet here! These first basic drawings should provide a foundation that allows you to imagine and draw other animal species.
