Abstract

Since the early 2000s, processor design and manufacturing are not driven by just performance alone. In fact, they are also constrained by strict power budgets. This challenge has been exacerbated in tune with the revolutions related to mobile systems and the Internet of Things since power consumption and battery life constraints have become more stringent. The challenges associated with ensuring fault-tolerant and reliable operation for mission-critical applications in a power-constrained scenario are even more pronounced.
