Abstract
This chapter is about security of embedded devices. Throughout this book, the effects of harsh environments in which we require many of our embedded devices to operate have been discussed in some detail. But even an embedded processor in a clean, warm, dry, stationary, and even physically safe situation is actually in an extremely harsh environment. That is because every processor everywhere can be subject to the harshness of cyber attacks.
