LEADERSHIP IS A complex subject that has been the topic of countless books. Opinions vary widely on what it takes to lead. What I have learned about leadership is that the difference between running a company and running the rest of your life isn’t all that big.

The old military command and control style of leadership doesn’t work in a business environment. However, like a military leader, a business leader must clearly communicate the “mission.” Note that I find the word mission too broad and a bit nebulous. Destination is a more useful word; you can’t lead without a clear destination.
