Chapter 17
Migrating Existing Automation to Flow
IN THIS CHAPTER
Understanding improvements between Flows and Workflow Rules
Understanding differences between Flows and Process Builders
Creating a strategy for a smooth migration
Salesforce has signaled its plan to retire Workflow Rules and Process Builder, though it hasn’t provided an exact timeframe of when that will occur. Company leaders know that many of us administrators are quite fond of, and reliant on, these tools and that learning something new can be hard.
To nudge those of us who are more resistant to change, and acknowledging that the Salesforce customer base relies on this older technology to power their companies’ processes, Salesforce has already blocked the ability to create new Workflow Rules or Process Builder processes while allowing existing automations to be edited. And if you’re someone who jumps at the chance to learn something new, Salesforce also wants to make sure you pace yourself for the best experience with your organization.
In this chapter, we discuss why it’s time to get informed and have a plan for the inevitable — and why this is all a very good thing.
