After running your store for even a short period of time, you might discover E-Commerce's dirty little secret: abandoned transactions. Just like it sounds, an abandoned transaction happens when a user gets part of the way through an order but leaves the Web site before completing the purchase. Most sites find that a surprisingly large number of their transactions are left uncompleted.
Why does this happen? It might be that the customer has subsequently decided not to purchase a particular set of items, but in many cases, it has something to do with the store that he or she is visiting.
