Including Text in Your Document

Text in SVG is handled considerably differently than in HTML. The name HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) alone suggests considerable concern as to the handling of text; the name SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) suggests an emphasis elsewhere. Whereas HTML is focused on formatting text, with the addition of graphics as a postscript to the language, SVG focuses largely on the precise visual presentation of content, whether it is graphics or text.
