Setting Up a Master-Slave Replication System

Now that you understand what needs to be achieved, it's time to get hands-on and talk you through the process of setting up a replicated system of one master and one slave.

You will need two servers on which you have installed MySQL. Ideally this should be version 4.0.2 or later, and if possible the same version on each machine.

In essence the following instructions will show you how to

  • Set up the master.

  • Start replicating.
