Chapter 8. Creating Text and Typographic Effects

One of the core elements of designing graphics for the Web is employing text. Because Web pages are limited by the fonts available on the user’s system, rather than those on the author’s system, only a small set of fonts is available for text on a Web page. But any font can be used when composing bitmap graphics. These can then be laid out on a Web page in addition to HTML-formatted text to create pages with typographic flair at minimal file sizes.
