Appendix B. FreeBSD Quick Reference
This appendix contains a list of common FreeBSD commands for quick reference. These commands are grouped by functional area: shell commands, file and directory manipulation commands, system utilities, and so on. Refer to this appendix to remind yourself of which commands to use whenever you are confronted with a task to perform in the shell and you're not sure which command you need.
This guide also contains a list of useful configuration files for various services and system behaviors. Note that in the configuration files whose names begin with a dot (which are per-user configuration files), the prefixed tilde character (~) represents the path to an individual user's home directory.
