Chapter 12. Too Light/Too Dark: Adjusting Brightness, Contrast, and Color
Digital cameras generally give you good, accurate color, but a lot depends on the amount of light available. Pictures shot outdoors toward the end of the day often take on an orange tone, as the sun goes down. Rainy day pictures might be drab as the weather itself. Indoor photos can pick up all kinds of color casts depending on the lighting in the room. Scanning photos can add color shifts caused by the scanner. Or maybe you’ve scanned old, faded prints in hopes of saving them in Elements. You’ll be amazed at what you can do by just making some small adjustments to an image’s brightness, contrast, and color.
