Installing and Setting Up Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE)
In order to access a database through our ASP.NET Web pages, we must first install a database system that is accessible from the Web server where the ASP.NET Web pages are hosted. If you have been serving the ASP.NET Web pages from your own computer, then you will need to install the Web server on this same computer.
If you are hosting your ASP.NET Web pages with a remote Web hosting company, then you will likely be unable to install a database system. More likely than not, a professional, commercial-grade database system is already installed for your use at your Web hosting company. Contact your Web hosting company for details.
