Chapter 16. Recovery Concepts

When you have data in your database, you must guard against losing this data. DB2 is equipped with tools to help you back up and recover your data.

One advantage of a database management system over storing data in files, is the backup and recovery procedures that can be used to rebuild the database if it becomes damaged in some way. The rebuilding of the database is called recovery, and DB2 supports the following types of recovery:
