If this were an academically oriented text instead of a Teach Yourself book, much of this hour would have appeared at the beginning of Part I rather than toward the end. I've done it this way to give you a chance to get into the trenches with the UML—to understand what the UML is and what it does. That way, you'll be ready to understand the foundations and work with them.
