Summary

This lesson defined site collections, top-level sites, subsites, and document and meeting workspaces. The topic of site groups was covered briefly, and some insight into the significance of the top-level site was given. The process of creating a subsite or a workspace was introduced, even though the average user of a SharePoint site may not have the right to create one. The concept is important to understand, however, to become more comfortable with how SharePoint site collections are designed, and it introduces the templates that can be used for creating these subsites and workspaces.
