Performing Tasks Using Transaction Codes

As you learned earlier, you can jump directly to any screen in the SAP system by entering an SAP transaction code into the command field on the standard toolbar. A transaction code is an alphanumeric code, essentially a shortcut, that takes you directly to the screen for the task you want to perform. For example, to display an existing sales order in R/3, you can enter VA03 in the command field and then press Enter. Similarly, to update a vendor’s credit limit you can enter FD32. Such T-codes save a considerable amount of time otherwise spent navigating the menu system.
