In this lesson, you learn how real-time updates can bring new life to your Google Places page (and your business). You learn about the types of real-time updates that might make sense for your business, such as updates to business hours and special offers; how to post and delete updates; how to enter and shorten URLs; and how to use Twitter in conjunction with real-time updates.

Using Real-Time Updates

A real-time update—Google also calls the feature “post to your Place page”—is a brief text that brings an element of life to your page. The posting is up to 160 characters long, the same length as a Twitter tweet. The maximum of 160 characters is only the upper limit; most tweets are much shorter.
