Lesson 15. Using Inner Classes and Lambda Expressions

Each new version of the Java language takes it further from its humble origins in 1995. When it was first released, Java had only 250 classes in the Java Class Library and was primarily used to put interactive programs on web pages. This brought something new to the Web and inspired several hundred thousand programmers to learn the new language.

Because the language was well designed and offered some features that made it a worthy rival to C++ and other choices for software development, Java quickly outgrew its original focus to become a general-purpose programming language. Today it is the most widely implemented and popular language in the world.
