Chapter 32. Participating in Newsgroups, Web Message Boards, and Blogs

Now that you’ve gotten started with email and chat, it’s time to look at a couple of other ways of communicating: newsgroups, web-based message boards, and web logs (called blogs). These features share aspects of emailing and chatting, but they work in different ways by handling a larger volume of messages, sorted by topic.

Getting Started with Newsgroups

When you know how to use an email program, you know 90% of what you need to know to use newsgroups. Reading a message, composing a new message, and replying are all very similar in an email program and a newsreader.
