Outlook is an Automation server application. This means it can be run as a standalone program and can also be run by other applications. Outlook is used to manage contact, schedule, task-based, and journal entry information. This hour will demonstrate how to write VBA code in Access to use Outlook as a contact-management engine for your database applications.
The VBA code you will be creating in this hour is specifically designed to control Outlook contact information. After all, this is what Microsoft Office XP is really about: Using a powerful suite of interoperable office and desktop applications to automate office tasks, including managing contact and appointment information.
