Lesson 6. Using Third-Party Applications: Twhirl
Third-party desktop applications are utilities that take Twitter into a higher level of efficiency by fetching your tweets and displaying them as they come in. Twhirl (http://www.twhirl.org) first appeared in the Twitterverse at the beginning of 2008 and quickly became a popular third-party desktop application. Twhirl tends to work best with accounts that are new or that have followers numbering in the hundreds, offering an expanded integration with other online services such as TwitPic, FriendFeed, Ping.fm and Seesmic. It’s no surprise, considering Twhirl’s intuitive approach to Twitter, that this client is considered one of the best available.
