The cache component uses a least recently used ( LRU) policy for selecting those blocks that it will no longer cache. However, the cache component will not be able to reclaim resources when the cache is full of pinned data. Pinned data is modified data for an offline VDisk, that is, it cannot be destaged, because the back- end disks are unavailable for I/ O.
