Basic Joins
In the IDT, you can choose to have your joins detected automatically based on common names between tables. Alternatively, you can manually define the joins. First, you’ll learn about using IDT join detection. Creating joins manually is covered in the discussion of loops and contexts later in this chapter.
Creating Joins Using Detection
When you choose to let the IDT automatically detect your joins, rather than creating them manually, it will create joins between tables based either on matching column names or key columns. A key column is specified by the DBA as a unique identifier for the particular table. The IDT displays a key icon next to those columns.
